Weekly recaps that sell your VIP

5 min read · By the SlipRelay team

A single winning pick screenshot tells a buyer almost nothing. Anyone can post a winner. A weekly recap shows the whole week, wins and losses, in the same format every time. That consistency is what makes people trust a record enough to pay for it.

This guide covers what to put in a recap, how to handle bad weeks, when to post, and how to format it for each platform.

Why a recap beats a highlight

Buyers have seen plenty of cappers who post only the winners. A recap answers the questions they actually have:

  • Do you post every pick? A full list with losses shows you do.
  • Do you use the same units every week? A running total shows it.
  • Is VIP different from free? A split shows what paying gets them.
  • Will you still be here next month? A recap every Monday for months is proof by itself.

One good recap won't sell anything. Twelve in a row, posted the same day in the same format, start to.

What to include

Keep the layout identical every week so readers can compare.

ItemExampleWhy it matters
Record (W-L-P)9-6-1The basic count, pushes included
Units+2.4uShows the result at your stated stake
ROI+6.8%Units won divided by units risked
Free vs VIP splitFree 3-2, VIP 6-4-1Shows what VIP adds, or doesn't

Worst pickTeam A -7, -2uOne line, no excuses

Write ROI the same way every week. If you count a 2-unit play as 2 units risked, do that every time.

Add the running season total under the week. A buyer who only sees one week is missing most of the picture.

Show losing weeks honestly

You will have losing weeks. Post them on the same day, in the same format, with the same prominence as winning weeks.

Skipping a bad week is the fastest way to lose credibility. Followers notice when Monday's recap doesn't show up, and screenshots of your old posts don't go away.

A losing-week recap can be short:

Week 6: 5-8, -3.6u. VIP 3-5. Two road favorites didn't cover late. Season: +11.2u. Same units next week.

No apology thread, no "variance" lecture, no promise to bounce back. State it and move on.

Fixed units, no cherry-picked windows

Two habits keep a recap honest:

  1. Fixed units. Pick a unit scale (for example 1u standard, 2u strong) and keep it. Changing stakes after a bad run makes the unit total meaningless.
  2. Full windows. Report the full week and the full season. Don't switch to "last 10 days" or "NBA only since the break" because it looks better.

If you change something, such as dropping a sport, say so in the recap and keep the old results in the season total.

When to post

Pick one time and stick to it. Monday morning works for most sellers because:

  • NFL Sunday and most weekend games are graded.
  • Readers are planning their week.
  • It's before Monday night games, so no picks are mid-flight.

If you mainly cover a sport with heavy weekday slates, any fixed day works. The habit matters more than the day.

Formats per platform

The numbers stay the same everywhere. Only the packaging changes.

X and Bluesky: an image card. Make one image with the week's record, units, ROI and free/VIP split. Put the season total in a smaller line. In the post text, write the week number and one sentence. Images get read in a scrolling feed where a long text post gets skipped.

Discord: a pinned post. Post the recap in #results (or your public results channel) and pin it. Discord lets members with the Pin Messages permission pin messages, and each channel holds up to 250 pins (Discord: Pin Messages FAQ, read via search excerpt). Unpin last week's recap so the newest one is easy to find.

Telegram: a channel post. Post the card plus a short text summary in your channel. Admins can pin it, and pinned messages show as a banner at the top of the chat (Telegram: Channels tour). Channel posts carry a view counter, which Telegram says is approximate (Telegram: Channels FAQ).

A soft call to VIP

End the recap with one plain line about VIP. Something like:

VIP gets every pick with units and the number we took. Link in bio. Past results don't guarantee future results.

Avoid "don't miss out," countdown timers, or "last chance." Readers who have watched your recaps for weeks don't need pressure. They need to know where the link is.

The FTC typical-results caution

If you share member testimonials, such as "made back my sub in a week," be careful. The FTC's endorsement guidance says that if an endorser's results aren't what people can generally expect, the ad needs to make clear what the generally expected results are (FTC: Endorsement Guides FAQ). The same guidance says a paid or otherwise connected endorser's relationship to you should be disclosed clearly (FTC: Endorsement Guides FAQ).

The simplest approach: let the recap carry the message. Your full record is the evidence. Skip testimonials about money made, and never present one member's week as typical.

Automating the recap

SlipRelay is posting software for pick sellers. It doesn't sell picks, take bets, or touch your subscribers or payments. One entry posts a branded card to X, Discord (free and VIP channels) and Bluesky, and you can text picks to its Telegram bot from your phone. Spreads, moneylines and totals in major US leagues grade themselves, and weekly recap cards post automatically on Pro, or any time you choose. A public record page shows only graded results, wins and losses. Plans start at $24/month with a free week.

Post once. It lands everywhere.

SlipRelay posts your picks to Discord, Bluesky and X as branded cards, posts the results when games end, and keeps a record you can't edit. 7 days free.
